BCS discuss future of IT in London

The British Computer Society (BCS) held an event bringing together representatives from key organisations in London to discuss the future of IT in London. The organisations involved were BAA (British Airports Authority), and the London Borough of Newham and Transport for London (TSL). These organisations are responsible for implementing and testing T projects  like the £4.2bn development of Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5 and Transport for London's iBus system.

”Nick Gains, the Head of Systems at BAA will provide insights into the Terminal 5 expansion at the world's busiest airport and will describe what is involved in providing and testing the IT infrastructure for such a large project.

He will be joined by John Defoe, a strategic IT consultant for the London Borough of Newham to describe a project to address issues of social exclusion by using television as a portal for interactive services.

The evening will be concluded by Martin Davey, iBus project director who will discuss Transport for London's iBus project to provide precise, real-time location information on the Capital's buses.”

The event took place on 14th June 2006 in London’s Covent Garden
