Software Testing: An ISEB Foundation provides an introduction to the breadth of software testing activities in real life projects.

As well as explaining the basic steps of the testing process and how to perform effective tests, it provides an overview of different techniques, both dynamic and static, and how to apply them.

Detailed techniques of black/white box testing and peer/inspection review are a joy to an auditor who mainly sees acceptance tests being repeated until the software learns them. The worked examples based on design diagrams and code fragments greatly assist the text.  Static and dynamic analysis are given good coverage. The technical content is backed by the techniques of test management based on risk, the use of metrics and tool support.
