From Information Week

Borrowing a page from the open source community, the Department of Defense’s Defense Information Systems Agency launched Forge.mil almost a year ago to facilitate software sharing among U.S. military branches. Based on CollabNet’s TeamForge and Subversion products, Forge.mil provides requirements management, version control, bug tracking, document repositories, and collaboration tools to Defense developers, including civilian employees and contractors. During a test phase, 1,000 developers participated in 50 projects. Software developed on Forge.mil can be deployed in DISA’s cloud computing environment. Plans call for portals for project management, certification, standards development, and on-demand software testing.
