Call for papers
The Association for Software Testing has a call for papers for their confenence next year (July 16-18 in San Jose, California). Testing topics include:

HP ALM V11 testing functionality
Did you know that in the HP ALM V11 their were some new testing features?
“The Application Lifecycle Intelligence adds a new “code changes” module in the ALM v11 suite. This makes it easier to monitor things in real-time and make sure you are testing the right places in your app that you are working on most recently. It helps to prioritize your testing and see what were the impacts of your requirements on your code. The changes can come from multiple source code management tools too and HP has provided hooks into Eclipse and Microsoft Visual Studio.”

Testing in London – November 2011
A collection of London testing stories leading up to 2012. Starting with one from Silicon.com on London 2012: Why the Olympics CIO is preparing for the worst
Teams from London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Locog) and its technology suppliers are currently in the final stages of testing software and hardware before rolling it out to Olympic and Paralympic venues. Alongside this testing, tech teams are taking part in dummy runs of Olympic events and making sure the tech supporting each event performs as expected.
The real test of the Olympics technology will take place during three days of technical rehearsals in the months before the games begin. During these rehearsals, hundreds of different nightmare scenarios will be thrown at technical staff to see how they – and the infrastructure – cope.
Then a story from the BBC on Cyber attack tests for Olympic Games computer systems
Security testing on the system will be carried out in a specially isolated version of the Olympic network, using an in-house team of pretend hackers.
“We simulate past competitions and we have a shadow team of about 100 people coming and creating problems – injecting viruses, disconnecting PC servers,” said Patrick Adiba from Atos, the company managing the games’ IT systems.

The announcement comes after a successful summer of London 2012 test events, as part of the London Prepares series, where LOCOG is testing crucial aspects of its operations. BT successfully delivered hosted voice services to the international beach volleyball, sailing, swimming, road cycling, basketball, BMX and badminton competitions over this period.
LOCOG’s live testing programme focuses primarily on testing the services located across the venues such as in field of play, front of house and back of house areas, as well as key operational procedures and functions. The test programme will continue through until May 2012.
So it seems a fair bit of testing going on in London at the moment all in preparation for next year!

The speed that a website page loads has long been a critical success factor – internet users are not renowned for their patience. So testing the speed that a website loads at has always been important. There are a host of free speed performance testing tools out there. O2 Testing 4G
O2 have announced that they are testing their 4G network in London. 4G is also known as LTE, which stands for Long Term Evolution. The testing will last for 9 months and includes cutting edge 4G technology. The LTE network runs from Greenwich to Hyde Park and includes 25 LTE sites.
Ronan Dunne, CEO of O2, said: “Today’s launch of the UK’s first 4G London trial network demonstrates our commitment to delivering 4G to our customers at the earliest opportunity. The work we are doing now will lay the foundations for our commercial 4G network when it launches in the UK.”
Definition of software testing
What Is often Software Testing?
“In a nutshell, software testing Is known as a Digest To acknowledge These accuracy, comprehensiveness, security, and excellence of The entire especially perfected software.”
This is from an article entitled Software Testing Removes Bugs and Improves Quality. It’s hard to argue with that title. But the article is another thing altogether. The incomprehensible definition above is one of the most lucid parts in the article. For the most part it is gibberish. It looks like it has been generated by a badly programmed computer. Maybe there is another explanation, I’d be interested to know.
London and testing
As a London-based blog that presents information on testing I was interested to find that there is a test called the Tower of London test. Turns out that it is nothing to do with software testing but is a “controversial test used in applied clinical neuropsychology for the assessment of executive functioning“. It seems to involve beads and boards and the like.

Test Driven Development

“They followed a test-driven development (TDD) approach for C++ using CppUTest, as described by James Grenning, to create a state machine to turn sensor readings into motor control instructions (with hindsight, we might have saved time by resorting to the Machine Objects library). Once this was working, it was linked with an application developed for an Android tablet computer that could be used to instruct the robot to go to any selected station, pick up/drop a “payload” (only conceptually) and return to base.”
